I think the best place to start is by a short re-cap of the past year.
In January 2009, after 6 months of trying, we found out we were pregnant! Being pretty excited we told our closest friends and my mom that morning ;) I was working in San Francisco for an undetermined amount of time and had of course just arrived 3 days before finding out we were expecting. It was a long 10 weeks or so of morning sickness in a hotel and plane rides that made me want to lose my lunch over and over again.

At 18 weeks we found out we were having a baby boy! I think we both knew it was going to be a boy we had both secretly hoped and prayed for a girl. Looking back, I would never change a having a son. Just 4 days later we left for a week in Hawaii where I immediately became a crispy, burned preggo. I cried on the beach seeing little girls in their cute swimsuits...and little boys in ugly little "wet suits". It was a rough vacation...mostly because I was so paranoid about my job, that's a whole other story though!

About 6 weeks before I was due my best friend, Linnie, threw us a wonderful baby shower. We were so lucky to have wonderful friends and family to share such a great day with. I think some of my favorite gifts were my Potterybarn diaper bag and the swing! We received amazing gifts and love for our baby...little did we know the little stinker was so excited to see his gifts he would be arriving 2 weeks early!
On Saturday, September 12th I had brunch with Linnie and felt a weird pain in my belly. It was so external and faint I didn't ever think it could be something related to labor. She immediately told me I was going to have this baby soon! I was enjoying being pregnant so much I never thought it would end early and I was in no way ready to have that belly gone!!! We were supposed to be at the WSU football game that day but with the swine flu in full force we opted to stay home. Good thing we did because at 6pm my water broke with a huge gush. Thank God I was sitting on the toilet at the time!
My contractions started just an hour later and the Dr on call told us to relax, eat and shower before coming in at 9pm. Relax my butt!!! I could not talk or walk through contractions almost immediately. This was not the labor I expected.
After a very eventful few hours and then giving in to an epidural :( the next 6 hours were sooooo uneventful my labor completely stopped. I was started on pitocin and my contractions barely registered on the monitor. Needless to say the epidural coupled with the weakness of the conractions made it hard to get that baby out! After 2 hours of pushing my little man was born into the world.
Here is where the surprises start...
